Tip for wax job?

I am going to be getting my underarms waxed soon. This will be my first time (and I'm scared scared !)
But that's not what this is about... Smiling

I don't know how much to tip the lady! I've called the salon/spa and found out information:
$20 for underarm - the cheapest I could find in my town
She has 8 years experience
They use a multitude of different waxes (hard, soft, etc)

But what should I tip? I've never been really good at figuring this out. I always tend to over tip b/c when I decide on 15 or 20% it always seems like too little.

So what do you tip? For underarm, eyebrow, bikini? Do you just tip one certain percent or does it change with what is being waxed? - Obviously it changes on the service, but assuming you get good service...

Any help would be appreciated!!

I get my brows waxed for $20 and I tip $5. I often wondered if this is enough but he never seems offended so I'll stick with it! The first time he waxed my brows it was a charge of $30 and I tipped $10.

15-20% is the acceptable amount. If they have a cheaper service, the tip will be smaller... And that's completely fine. If they give excellent service and you feel they deserve more, then give more. However, I wouldn't give more just because you feel guilty that the tip isn't a lot.

it's quick and it's easy...it's not like he is doing a work of art (highlights or something) it really shouldn't take more than 10 minutes so i think $5 should suffice

I agree with graylen 100%. I would probably tip $5 if they did a really good job. Which reminds me...I need to go get the brows touched up.
